Chapter 9 Summary

Electronic Commerce

Learning about digital wallets in this chapter really caught my attention because I use Apple pay and PayPal all the time without really thinking too much about how they actually work. I didn’t know that digital wallets can store my card information on a vendor’s server, and that both the buyer and seller need to use compatible wallets for a purchase to go through. It made me think about how risky it can be since these apps collect a lot of data about what we buy. I like the idea of how fast and easy it is to pay for things using them, but I can also see why people worry about privacy and security. Overall, this section made me more aware of how much I depend on digital wallets in my everyday life and how important it is to keep my phone and accounts protected.
